CAREER IN FINANCE Leadership skill is something only a select few have in the world today, some people are born to be leaders and some simply followers. Since only a select few people have this skill, leaders are a tremendous value to big cooperation and organization. In the business world leaders are accentual for the economy's growth. This is the reason why I'm majoring in finance, because I possess the leadership skill to lead people in business, become a successful investor, and helping teaching teenagers Financial Literacy. My junior year in high school was the toughest time of my high school life, I knew I wanted to do business but I did not know what type of business I wanted to major in, I wanted to do something I'm good at and be able to educate people in that area. I started to learn about the stock market online, through YouTube and reading books in business and learning how money works. I decided I wanted to try it to see if it is something I will like to do. I began playing this virtual stock market game by myself, at first it was hard finding the perfect stock to invest my money, plus, I had to develop a strategy that shows me how long I will keep the stock; how much money to put in, and my backup plan just in case something fails. The biggest mistake I made was diversifying in too many different stocks where it was impossible to keep up with each one, I started with $200,000 and soon I was down about $10,000 in only one week. Even though my first attempt at the stock market may seem as a failure, I saw it as a learning opportunity. I quickly sold all my stocks and started over, but this time I only invested in one to four stock so I can manage them easily, now my net revenue is over $20,000 in just two months. After getting better at the stock market I decided I wanted a career on wall street, so I planned to major in finance. I have started a club called Money Makers with a small group of people, and I made it my goal to teach them About Financial literacy and educate them on how money works. Simply put, this means knowing how to manage and invest money wisely in assets such as real estate, stocks, bonds, commodities, forex, options, and more. Before I started this group, I had to learn about these different types of assets myself, and it was not easy because I did not have anybody to personally teach me, but I never gave up because I am on a mission to impact my world. I successfully taught my group the fundamentals about commodities, forex, options, and stocks, and are active traders in these markets making profits. Even though we are playing the virtual game, its preparing us for the real-life simulation. Majoring in finances will help me understand the markets better; like how to read index chats to analyze which way the markets is moving. The biggest challenges small business people face today is the lack of leadership skills. First you must be confident in what you're doing, there may be days in the future where things may not go according to plan, this is true with any business, large or small, the most important thing is not to panic. Part of my job as a team leader was to put out fires and maintain the team morale. There were uncertainties, but the higher the risk, the higher the reward. That is where my natural intuition kicks in, when something unexpected occurs, or you are thrown into a new scenario, my team will look to me for guidance. My dream in ten years' time is to become one of the greatest commodities, forex, options, stock, and real estate investor ever. I want to work for an investment company like Goldman Sachs and later run my own hedge fund, I love winning therefore I chose finance as my major because I have all the traits to become a financial leader.

Impact of the Government’s Spending Review on the Construction Industry The impact of the Governments Review on the construction industry has had different reactions. Edwards (2010)[7] points out that â€Å" £20 bn of capital spending will be cut between now and 2014/15†. The impact will be severe on government departments and local authority budgets. But further details published by the HM Treasury (2010)[3] indicate that the government intends to increase net capital spending by  £2.3 bn up to 2014/15, relative to the June 2010 Budget predictions. Currently the Government spends approximately  £50 bn on capital projects. It appears that the Government is focussing on those projects with the ‘highest economic value’. Education along with health and infrastructure are areas that the government has chosen to focus on (Anon, 2010)[8]. This article also quotes Graham Watts, Chief Executive of Construction Industry Council who states that â€Å"social housing is the worry, but investment in schools, carbon reduction and transport infrastructure plus the Green Investment Bank are positive†. The Spending Review of 2010, has reduced the funding for Social Housing from  £8.4 bn to  £4.4 bn (HM Treasury, 2010)[3] This will be a severe blow to those construction companies who specialised in having contracts with social housing customers, such as, local councils and housing associations, according to Light (2010)[9]. Keynesian Theory and the UK Economy The UK economy has endured six consecutive quarters of negative growth, resulting in one of the most prolonged recessions in modern times (2008/09). Since the beginning of 2010 the economy has shown some positive signs of recovery. Particular emphasis has been given to the relevance of the Spending Review on the construction industry and its impact on a construction company. Furthermore the paper attempts to relate some aspects of the Keynesian Theory to the current UK economic situation.
